Original Creation

Moonlit Serenade • S32E3 • Bob Ross/Nic Hankins

Ninoum 20 Nov 2023

This one popped up on my Facebook today, from the PBS page. My heart swelled up right away. It was, without hesitation, the project of my day. At the beginning, Nic shows us the one Bob had done for this episode. A beautiful moonlit evening in the South (Spanish moss gives it away), with a stream cascading calmly in the night, and a proud lonely dead tree having the view of an heavenly serenade.

Friends joined in to enjoy the view of this soothing moment of the night.

I have included the original from Bob. 🥰

In this compo, there are some underwater rocks done with gesso. I didn’t do them by mistake. I did a screenshot of the gesso prep but couldn’t tell they were rocks. I thought it was just some kind of ripples. 🫤 Nic explains, as he paints, what his prep was in the first few minutes of the tutorial. I didn’t watch the video before hands. So be aware of that if you decide to do this one. The underwater rocks add lots of value to the scene. I wish I had them. I attached the picture of the gesso prep.

Good morning, Nancy. I like your powerful colors more than in the original and the little friends you have inserted fit well into the scene 👍🏼🇩🇪

Super work as always Nancy!

Very nice!

Lovely painting, Nancy. <3

Looks like Bob's painting was more like a sketch of an idea.

Anyway, this is my kind of scene.
Too bad I can't watch the vieo. :(

Super painting Nancy.

Thank you much my friend! 🇩🇪☀️ Nic uses more vibrant colors. Tho, it could be that Bob’s painting wasn’t taken with proper lighting. It could be a sketch too? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you very much Tom! ☀️

Thanks Cosmo! 😀

Thank you Titia. I agree, that’s what I thought when I saw it. Nic was telling us that Bob had fully completed 7 paintings for series 32. He had other ones as sketches and trials. Nic had to figure out what Bob was trying to get to with the “in progress” ones. He said it was a pretty tedious work to do. But at the end, he was able to recreate the essence of those unfinished compositions.

Titia, do you have access to a VPN? If so, you can use it to watch any shows you don’t have access in your country. 😉

Thank you bunches Toni! 😀

So beautiful and enchanting! Looks like a magical place! Just love it Nancy!

I couldn’t agree more Sandy! Every time that there is a glow in one of Bob’s paintings, it really gives a soothing and serene feeling. This one makes you so peaceful and calm.

really nice, can't wait to do this one!

Thx Jessie! You will love doing it! It’s an easy one to do. It warms up your heart painting it. Can’t wait to see your version. 😊

Very nice Nancy, I saw the video yesterday and will try it also soon, where are your stones in the water?

Very pretty N!

Very nice Nancy. I started this one myself last night :-)

Thx Jos! 😀 can’t wait to see your version. And I did explain in the description of the painting why I didn’t do the rocks. I didn’t watch the whole video prior to. I just took a screen shot of the gesso work. You couldn’t see the rocks. I knew there was something there but thought it maybe ripples or just undefined things at the bottom of the stream. I learned my lesson! 😞

Thank you B! 😀

Thx Matt. Looking forward to seeing your version. I😊

You have painted a very beautiful painting Nancy, well done, cheers

Thank you much Dave! 😊

No idea how to use a VPN, but I'll look into it. Thank you for the tip.

Very nice underpainting btw.

Do a search in the web to see which one is the best. Then download the app. And Voilà!!
