Bright Autumn Trees

Voy Kay 01 Feb 2022

Not sure again why I chose this one but I did loose heart and motivation almost halfway through. I still finished strongly, luckily enough.

Canvas used was a budget 12"x16". The sky and the water look great but I feel unhappy with the overdeed of foliage in autumn colours. I think I used more yellow ochre then I normally do for 10 paintings!
I changed the decor a little here and there cause after all, it's my world, is it not?

Wow! Awesome trees. I love the changing colors of autumn! The sun and sky are beautiful.

Super to read your comment Brian!
Yes, I'm VERY pleased with that sky as well, the purplish little cloud does magic to it.
I had to work real hard to get the armada of autumn colors under control and specially visible! This is in fact not a creation for beginners!

Beautiful ... takes me back to a beaver pond where I used to fish for bass many years ago ;)

I used to play the bass, several years ago! 😆😋😉

Pardon me, couldn't resist a small joke, although it is really true that I had a career as a musician (bass) for some 35 years.
Glad you are liking one of my many creations, hope to see yoiu around soon!
Till next one!

Very beautiful- the sky and the foliage look great together. 😀

Nice colors and trees

wow great mix of colors!

@Kculliton, yes indeed, I was pretty excited with how the sky turned out. The foliage was a real puzzle but I managed well for the end result I believe!

Jos, always a pleasure when you visit my creatures .... euch ... creations!

Yes indeed Jessie, and one cannot imagine the amount of paint AND paint thinner I had to use for that!!

Nice job - and I think the foliage on your trees is done really well! Love the gold one on the left.

Nice work Voy! btw I play a yamaha bbne2

Thank you Pam! I couldn't believe the amount of ochre and yellow I had to use for this creation! And quite some paint thinner as well, that made that left tree really stand out!

Thanks David!

Oh my, a five string bass AND a real expensive one. My compliments!

I played Ibanez, early 80's, which I was very unhappy with and thus sold it real quick!
Then in the mid 80's, I got my hands on a second hand Fernandez and that was a 10 million win match!!
See the image, but then a model from 1984.

It was like it was moulded for my hand! Also had a great sound and that for bass of around 300USD.
Due to unfortunate circumstances .... I was forced to retire as a musician though six years ago. Now, one of my neighbour teens has bought the guitar, and the Marshall amplifier.
I REALLY miss the thing though .... and playing as well (had a very strong live reputation!)

Voy, great to see you posting. Very nice painting you came back with! Glad you pushed it to complete, it has a very magic autumn feel.
I got to know quite recently that some of yellow ochres are transparent and some are not. Transparent ones take a lot of paint to make a color needed or placing that color on top of darks. I realized that fall foliage is better to do via brown base and then apply yellow/orange/red on top. Nice purple touches in distance by the way!
