I am gearing up slowly but surely for my “BR Floral Workshop” on the 2nd week of April. So to start putting me in the mood, I decided to try this one.
I have to say that it was a very challenging painting to do. Not because of the painting floral technique, but rather that it is extremely hard to see what Annette is doing for most of the episode. It’s too dark. The under paint wasn’t picked up at all my the camera. The highlights are so faint, that they are also hard to see. I had to have my book and follow the little black & white pictures to get by. I will also add that Annette doesn’t really teach you the technique, she talks but doesn’t explain how to make a petal with your brush. She just paints and babbles. Def not an episode for a beginner. I am glad I have done florals in the past, because it would have been a super frustrating compo to attempt imho.
Nonetheless, I was able to get thru. The only thing that I will need to touch up once dried, are the suspension cords. I can’t tell you how many times I tried to get the spiraling effect right. I started to mess up to much. So the fix will be for later on.

Persistence pays off, it turned out beautifully. I like the soft glow in the background and how the daisies pop.
Absolutely beautiful work N! I agree 💯 that the episode was too dark to follow accurately as well. Probably the worst episode in all of the series put together. I am glad that it was Annette’s episode that achieved that high honor too! 🔝👍✌️
