That Time of Year

eduardo 03 Apr 2025

This time I wanted to do one of Bob's paintings that didn't have a huge Alaska style mountain in it. This one reminded me a lot of Tennessee, so I went for it. I'm not a huge fan of the pastel sky theme so prevalent in Bob's paintings so I took a risk and went for using the liquid white primer as the light source and just blending the blue sky into it to soften a bit. I think that part worked well, but I should have replicated that in the lower part of the painting to make the water look more reflective, but all in all, I'm pleased.

The background tree line gave me fits because I think I didn't plan it out well enough, so it ends up looking like a stark straight line, and I think the dark color is too close to the hills in the background, so the highlights don't sit quite right.
