Cabin in the Woods

Marshwiggle 24 Jun 2025

When I saw this Bob Ross video, I loved it and knew I wanted to try it. My black gesso-ed canvas sat on the easel for several days, So finally this morning I decided to go to it. I know I need work on my grass, and I feel like I could have extended the little pond. Not comfortable enough to tackle cabins yet. The knife and I are at odds, but I didn't miss the cabin anyway. This one was a lot of fun.
I added a photo - added a deer to the painting - it needed something

I like your grass, I can see you've painted it using upward strokes which is more work than just tapping it on. Knife work can be difficult for a long time, but with the effort, and cabins can be tricky but you just need to pay attention to the angles. You'll get there. Really nice colour between the tree trunks.

Thank you sooo much, Helen for both the encouragement and the tips! I am flying blind and can use all of the help I can get. You are absolutely right, I was using upward strokes - need to practice tapping! And I won’t give up on the knife!

I like your greens and blues. There's a nice glow thru the trees. it took me a while to make friends with my knife, but I think you're off to a great start

Thank you so much, for the encouragement, Rebecca!

I love it, very dark!

Thanks so much, Chris! This was a black canvas, and one of mine that I wasn’t happy with. By omitting the cabin, it feels like it needs a focal point. I am thinking of adding a deer in the right foreground or something! LOL

Love the colors!!

Thank you, Stephierae!
