This was my very first attempt at oils (and a Bob Ross painting). I was so discouraged. I did a lot of mud-mixing and I am still learning the knife, and was so disappointed because I so loved Bob’s painting. So… I kept painting on it, and over it, adding things (swan and birds) to try to improve it where I could tolerate it. I think it may have just been too ambitious for my first oil. I finally moved on to the “Golden Rays” painting and was more encouraged, but I decided I should upload this one and keep it to look back to the beginning of this journey and see my progress. You don’t learn as much from doing something well, as you do by struggling. As Bob says, you gotta have dark to have light!
You are so kind, Sandy…. Thanks so much for your encouragement! I’m not giving up!
Good for you. I've started a conversation on the forum "Are you stuck in a rut?" to get people together on the subject of struggling. Hope that helps. Great swan by the way.
Great swan, top work 👍🏼🇩🇪
Thank you, TheLandscapePainter! I will check out the conversation!
Thank you so much Dirk1968
I can only dream about this was the quality of my first oil painting. It's wonderful with a beautiful sky, mountains and the (reflection of) swan!
