Babbling Brook

lightsnow 08 May 2020

This is #50 for me. I guess that is a milestone in itself. Halfway to the 100 mark. This was a pretty quick one today, really laid back. It's also a miraculous painting experience as I didn't get paint all over my hands. Instead of adding all of my different paint colors to my palette before I started, I added what I needed as I went. I found that I wasted much less paint at the end doing it that way. I may try this in the future. For this painting, I had painted the acrylic under painting last weekend using black and grey acrylic. I also got some new contact paper and it actually worked really well. I would highly recommend this kind, it's called clear matte contact paper. It stuck really nicely to the canvas. I got it on Amazon. I've also been listening to a lot of Nick Cave's new album "Ghosteen" while painting lately. It's an extremely melancholic and heart breaking record. I find it lends itself well to painting scenes like this. 18x24

Very beautiful painting. Well done!
It was good you got a new contact paper.

Magnificent painting Lightsnow, you are reaching amazing heights in paintings lately!

Concerning your paint usage, I do exactly the same. Normally I watch an entire episode up front so I know a little how much of every colour I will need (also for blending) and then apply it as I go. I can go ages with tubes of paint that way!!
Till next one!

Wonderful painting, lightsnow! no further comments needed on this one, it is beautiful.

The lighter misty area in the background is so lovely. Way to go on 50 paintings! I hope I get there some day!

Very nice! I know what you mean with the paint consumption. I have gotten away from using the palette. Instead, I tape down coated freezer paper to a table...clean up is a breeze!

This is so nice. Your foliage details are great.
