The Windmill

Voy Kay 06 Jan 2021

I never gave this much thought, really, I just picked this one out and had a go. I had a blackened canvas to spare anyway.
This is from the earlier seasons and it is no secret that I do not fancy many paintings under season 15. But I found it interesting enough to give it a try.
And only a try it was. The sky was easy (yet another manner from Bob to paint skies!) and I felt confident with the buildings. The grass was just painting wibbely wobbely again with brushes, much to my likings. The windmill however gave me a lot of troubles and that had all to do with my dominant hand that since little over five years, I cannot use to the full anymore. Pity but I can live with it.
Anyway, I tried and yeah, from a distance it looks well enough. Hope you will forgive me that hampering.

Canvas used was a budget 12"x16" (all my black gesso canvasses are budget ones!). Not so difficult to do in all and a great exercise in freestyling with the fan brush and creating buildings. I do think that it's rather empty you know, above the horizon I mean!

Particular the windmail is realy nice .

Great job on the windmill and other structures!! The grass would definitely be the easy part on this one.

Windmill looks great. I've been thinking about trying this one. You did a nice job and have put it back on my shortlist.

Thanks Hado, I must admit that I could not handle a 12 fan wheel, due to my .... you know ...
But the structure itself, I believe firmly it's better then what Bob painted!! I dare to state!

FVg, true, the grass was done in Bob's wibbling style with a fan brush. All it takes is to change the colour a bit now and then to create some depth.

Lori, I believe you can make this great!
Use the windmill as an eye catcher but I would suggest you would go for some bushes, trees or anything on the left side. Because it feels too empty as Bob did it.
Be sure to do the wibbling things with the fan brush AND adapt some colouring. You will LOVE your grass!!

Love that mill Voy, nothing like the ones in Blighty so I've only ever seen them on TV. Looks the sort of place where I'd love. Great 👍

True Nivek, I crossed 80% of Blighty yet never saw these mills. Mind you, I crossed 27 states in USA as well but only saw this twice, much to my surprise!

Happy you love it! Till next one!

That is the spirit Voy Kay!!!
