Blue Winter

LCLeonard 15 Jan 2021

Fun to use three colors. Struggled with some blank areas because I didn’t paint long enough rows of trees or mountains, so did a little improv. Also struggled with the foreground snow and made it look more like bushes instead (intentionally). I sometimes add too much white for my water lines and make it too thick - any fix when this happens?

try this tutorial again and you will see progression, do it slow and focus on shapes ! its much easier when work on little larger canvas like 40x55 cm

I had a super tough time with the trees for some reason. It seemed like my fan brush kept clumping up and wouldn’t give definitive shapes. I added tree trunks because it didn’t look enough like evergreens. Still working on knife work too

I really like the mountains.
With water lines you can try to just saw with the knife back and forth so that the color sinks into the canvas and the line becomes thinner. You can also take a fanbrush and just blend the waterline a bit. I usually put the liquid white on my palette, spread it and then just gently touch the knife to the paint so that it picks up just a little paint.
