Northern Lights

Voy Kay 24 Jan 2021

Worth noting would be that this is my 300th creation uploaded here! My 148th Bob Ross recreation. And I have some 20 painting ideas prepared already for the next weeks and months.

The aurora could have used more and longer stripes I think. The mountains show too much mosaic iso slopes. Water was very hard to make.
I did not opt for a cabin since I was convinced it doesn't really suit in there.

Canvas used was a recycled 16"x26", a rather unusual size, museum thickness, and was prepared with black gesso.

Please enjoy!

Beautiful ❤ Another one on my to-paint list 😁 I think I meed a month's vacation with only paints and brushes for company 🤔😉

Hahaha, yes, would love such month as well AND at a special location .... Hawaï or so!

Toughest here was having the correct amount of basic paint on the canvas, together with striping out enough long lines out of the giant white stripes.
The rest is not that difficult. The scenery was attractive enough without cabin, so left that out!

Success Umagaan, if you like to take this one on. It is the most favourite of all creations here in this community!

❤❤❤❤❤

Most hearts I ever had in a row Jude, thank you so much!!!

Voy, this is wonderful painting. Size of canvas is so unusual. It gives the painting a lot of air. Evergreens are fantastic! You got such a glow on the mountain. Is it pure titanium white or with a touch of the yellow or ochre?

And of course congrats with your 300s creation here!

So happy to see you Sunnylady!
This was a canvas from the recycle store, I think I bought for just under 2 USD. It is real heavy and very strong and I am pleased I chose this creation for it. The wider size made it possible to paint four layers of Aurora on it, where even five or six were an option.
Happy you like the vergreens, they were real hard to do (with dark on black) but a shy highlight really made them pop!

The mountains had two colouring. T-white with a VERY subtile hint of Phtalo blue and the shadow was T-white with a little blue and some background mountain color (in my case that was Prussian blue, Ivory black and some VDbrown).

Yes indeed, thank you, although my counter shows 309, there are only 300 different paintings, drawings, creations uploaded. I keep track of that in a special database on my personal computer.

Love it. Great job. I like the depth of your bushes along the front.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

Ah Rosolima, those front bushes were done in seconds but so afraid of them since they ended up in one line and could have used some more heigth differences. At least I managed to get three shades of colour there, also that helped with depth!

Till next one!
